Microsoft has officially launched Copilot Vision for all Edge users, making the AI-powered tool free to anyone with a Microsoft account. Initially introduced as an experimental feature in October 2023 and later expanded to Copilot Pro subscribers in December, the tool is now widely available.
What Does Copilot Vision Do?
Copilot Vision uses AI to analyze and summarize the content of the current web page in Edge. Users can ask questions or request recommendations based on the page's content. For example:
- Product recommendations on shopping sites like Amazon.
- Step-by-step guidance for recipes or DIY projects.
- Job application advice based on listed positions.
The tool excludes sites with harmful or adult content and cannot access pages behind logins. Privacy is a priority—requests and page content are not stored, only responses are logged for safety monitoring.
How to Enable Copilot Vision
- Sign in to Microsoft Edge with a Microsoft account.
- Visit the Copilot Vision activation page.
- Click the microphone icon in the Copilot sidebar and accept the prompt to enable the feature.
- Click the glasses icon to activate Copilot Vision on any supported page.
Early Testing Notes
Some users reported initial activation issues, but Microsoft appears to have resolved them. In testing, Copilot Vision successfully summarized entire articles, even when only partial content was visible on-screen.
