FAI Seeks AI Policy Research and Senior Fellows

The Foundation for American Innovation (FAI) is recruiting Research Fellows and Senior Fellows to focus on artificial intelligence (AI) policy. The positions are based in Washington, DC, and aim to advance pragmatic AI policy through original research, commentary, and stakeholder engagement.
About FAI
FAI is a nonprofit founded in 2014 with a mission to bridge technology and governance. It supports builders, hackers, and founders working toward a better, freer, and more abundant future.
Role Overview
Fellows will report to the Director of AI Policy and act as policy entrepreneurs, identifying opportunities to shape debates and implement solutions. Responsibilities include:
- Producing nonpartisan research and commentary on AI
- Translating technical debates for policymakers and the public
- Participating in FAI events, including panels and workshops
Senior Fellows may also travel for events and develop donor relationships.
Areas of Focus
FAI seeks specialists in:
- Cybersecurity & national resilience
- AI diffusion (reforming outdated regulations)
- U.S. technology competition
- AI's societal impact
- Public-sector AI adoption
Qualifications
Competitive candidates will demonstrate:
- Commitment to FAI’s mission
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Entrepreneurial initiative
- Fluency in technical and policy discussions
Research Fellows should have 2–6 years of experience in AI or tech policy. Senior Fellows need 6+ years, a published portfolio, and leadership experience.

Salaries:
- Research Fellows: $75K–$115K
