GoDaddy Launches Trusted Identity System for AI Agents
GoDaddy introduces a trusted identity naming system for AI agents to verify legitimacy and ensure secure interactions as the AI agent landscape grows.
By PR Newswire
AI agents are proliferating at an unprecedented rate, with projections suggesting businesses alone will build over one billion agents in the next three years. However, the lack of a standard framework to distinguish legitimate agents from malicious ones poses a significant challenge. To address this, GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY) has unveiled a trusted identity naming system for AI agents, leveraging its decades of expertise in domain names, DNS, and SSL certificates.
The Challenge: Trust in AI Agent Interactions
As AI agents increasingly communicate autonomously, the absence of a verification system raises concerns about security and integrity. "The AI agentic space is a lot like the 'Wild West' of the early internet," said Travis Muhlestein, CTO of Product & AI at GoDaddy. The new system aims to mitigate risks by ensuring only verified agents can participate in interactions.
Technical Framework
The system combines:
- Discovery via DNS: Human-readable names map to agent endpoints.
- X.509 Certificates: Cryptographic verification using public key infrastructure (PKI).
- Protocol-Agnostic Adapters: Ensures compatibility across frameworks.
- Lifecycle Management: Registration, renewal, and revocation controls.
The design aligns with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) draft for an Agent Name Service (ANS), promoting interoperability.
