Microsoft Forces Copilot AI Install Google Unveils AP2 Payment Protocol
Microsoft will auto-install Copilot AI app for some users, Google's AP2 enables AI payments, YouTube announces AI updates, OpenAI shares ChatGPT usage data, and Intuit partners with Clair for on-demand pay.
Starting October 2025, Microsoft will automatically install the Copilot AI app on Windows devices with desktop versions of Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). This rollout affects personal users globally (excluding the European Economic Area), with no opt-out option for individuals—only system administrators can disable it via the Microsoft 365 Apps admin center. Critics view this as a push to boost AI adoption, but some users may perceive it as bloatware.
Google, alongside 60+ partners (PayPal, Mastercard, Coinbase, Salesforce), launched Agents Payments Protocol (AP2), an open-source system allowing AI agents to finalize purchases without human approval. AP2 uses cryptographically signed contracts to authenticate transactions, streamlining eCommerce. This could eventually reduce payment processing overhead for businesses by automating transactions.
At MadeOn YouTube 2025, YouTube unveiled AI-driven features:
- “Edit with AI”: Automatically arranges clips into polished videos.
- Speech-to-Song: Transforms spoken audio into music tracks.
- Dynamic Sponsorship Slots: Lets creators resell ad slots in videos. These updates aim to simplify content creation and monetization for small businesses and influencers.
A study of 1.5 million conversations showed:
- 49% use ChatGPT for advice (Asking).
- 40% for tasks like writing/coding (Doing).
- 11% for creativity (Expressing). Usage growth is 4x higher in low-income countries, and female users now surpass 52%. Businesses should tailor AI tools to these trends for maximum impact.
