Qualtrics and Stanford Health Care launch AI agents to enhance patient care
Qualtrics and Stanford Health Care collaborate on AI agents to streamline healthcare administration and improve patient access, coordination, and engagement.
Qualtrics and Stanford Health Care have expanded their partnership to develop AI agents aimed at reducing administrative burdens and enhancing patient care. The initiative leverages the Qualtrics XM Platform to deliver predictive insights and proactive interventions, seamlessly integrated into healthcare workflows.
Strengthening Patient-Provider Relationships
The collaboration focuses on preserving the provider-patient connection by automating administrative tasks, allowing clinicians to dedicate more time to direct patient interactions.
"Today's leading companies make every connection count with their customers and employees, and AI agents are a leap forward in what's possible with experience management," said Zig Serafin, CEO of Qualtrics.
"Trust is built when patients feel truly seen, heard, and cared for," added David Entwistle, President and CEO of Stanford Health Care.
AI-Powered Solutions for Healthcare Challenges
The AI agents address critical healthcare delivery challenges by:
- Predicting missed appointments and arranging alternatives like telehealth or transportation.
- Identifying language barriers and connecting patients to interpreters.
- Resolving prescription delays and ensuring consistent care instructions.
- Linking patients to social resources (e.g., housing, transportation).
These interventions are embedded into workflows to minimize delays and maintain trust.
Data-Driven, Empathetic AI
The agents utilize Qualtrics' data repository, combining operational, clinical, and patient feedback (e.g., surveys, call transcripts) to ensure empathetic, context-aware interactions.
"The future of the patient experience is precision—knowing not just what a patient needs, but when and how to act on it," said Alpa Vyas, SVP at Stanford Health Care.
Building on Past Success
The project extends a partnership dating back to 2021, where Stanford Health Care used Qualtrics' platform to analyze feedback and predict patient needs. The new phase integrates modular solutions with electronic medical records, designed for scalability across health systems.
Both organizations emphasize that these tools will merge patient experience metrics with , ensuring actionable, measurable insights. The collaboration is expected to influence broader adoption of AI-driven patient care solutions in healthcare.
