GitLab has officially launched its Duo Agent Platform in public beta, marking a significant step in integrating AI agents into the DevSecOps workflow. The platform, first announced earlier this year, is now available to GitLab Premium and Ultimate customers, offering multi-agent workflows and IDE integrations.
Key Features of the Platform
- Multi-Agent Workflows: The platform allows specialized AI agents (e.g., code reviewer, security expert, planner) to work together asynchronously or semi-autonomously.
- IDE Integrations: The agentic chat feature now supports JetBrains IDEs like IntelliJ, PyCharm, GoLand, and WebStorm.
- Extensibility: Users can build custom agents and workflows, with triggers to automate tasks based on platform events (e.g., code check-ins).
Developer-Centric Approach
Emilio Salvador, VP of Strategy and Developer Relations at GitLab, emphasized the platform's goal to augment developers rather than replace them. "Our focus is on orchestration," he said, "enabling agents and humans to work seamlessly together."
