AWS launches AI agent tools and vector storage at New York Summit
AWS unveiled new AI agent development tools and a vector-optimized storage solution at its New York Summit, aiming to simplify AI deployment and reduce costs.
Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) announced a suite of new tools and services designed to streamline the development and deployment of artificial intelligence agents during its AWS Summit in New York. Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS's vice president of agentic AI, highlighted the offerings in his keynote address.
Key Announcements
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore
AWS introduced Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a comprehensive toolkit for building and managing AI agents. The suite includes:
- AgentCore Runtime: Provides secure, serverless sandboxes for AI agents, supporting tasks lasting up to eight hours.
- AgentCore Gateway: Enables agents to interact with external APIs and services, including AWS Lambda.
- AgentCore Observability: Offers monitoring tools to ensure reliable agent performance.

Amazon S3 Vectors
AWS also debuted Amazon S3 Vectors, a cost-effective storage solution optimized for vector data. Key features include:
- 90% cost reduction compared to alternatives.
- Support for up to 10,000 vector indexes per bucket, each holding millions of vectors.
- Sub-second query latency and automatic optimization for evolving datasets.

Nova Model Customization
AWS expanded its Amazon Nova model series, allowing customers to customize models during pre- and post-training phases. Techniques like RLHF (Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback) are supported to refine model outputs.
