Chinese tech developers are leveraging AI Agents and 5G-advanced networks to enhance daily life and business operations through personalized services.

Remote learning has already begun to take off in some parts of the world. But 5G would greatly improve the quality of such learning.

Chinese technology developers are mapping out the future with artificial intelligence agents, supported by faster 5G-advanced (5G-A) networks, to streamline activities for daily life and businesses.

AI Agents: The Next Frontier

At the Mobile World Congress in Shanghai, experts highlighted AI Agents—software programs that use AI to perform tasks independently with minimal human oversight. Dominic Wallace, a senior PR manager at Huawei Technologies, explained that these agents build personal memory models to learn user habits and preferences, continuously improving services.

  • Personalized Experiences: AI Agents analyze data to create ecosystems tailored to individual users.
  • Business Optimization: The technology can also enhance infrastructure and business operations.

5G-A Networks: Powering AI

While AI Agents are still conceptual, 5G-A networks—offering enhanced speed and latency—are being piloted to support AI technologies. Over 300 Chinese cities already have 5G-A, with 10 million users nationwide.

Key Applications:

  1. Smart Homes: AI Agents integrate devices for seamless user experiences.
  2. Automated Vehicles: Showcased at the conference, these include transformable vans and delivery robots.
  3. Healthcare and Education: AI enables cancer detection and personalized learning programs.

Future Prospects

David Wang of Huawei noted three transformative impacts of mobile AI:

  1. AI Agents will replace apps, improving life and work.
  2. AI-IoT convergence will diversify capabilities.
  3. Personalized Services: From travel assistants to expense management, AI will handle tasks autonomously.

Drones and Robots

  • Food Delivery Drones: Already in use, these will be enhanced by AI for precision drops.
  • Humanoid Robots: Leju Robot’s CEO emphasized the need for intelligent connectivity beyond stability.

Commercial and Industrial Benefits

5G-A and AI can:

  • Boost supply chain efficiency.
  • Enhance cloud gaming and immersive sports streaming.
  • Enable smarter payment systems.

Huawei predicts rapid 5G-A adoption in China, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific by 2025.
