Microsoft Bing announced on Monday the launch of the Bing Video Creator, a new feature in its app that leverages OpenAI's Sora model to generate videos from text prompts. This marks the first time OpenAI's advanced video generation tool will be available for free, as it has previously been restricted to paying customers.

- Availability: Currently limited to the Bing app (not yet on desktop)
- Generation Time: Videos can take hours to generate, even in "fast" mode (promised to take minutes)
- Free Tier: Users get 10 free video clips (requires Microsoft account login)
- Pricing Model: After free tier, videos cost 100 Microsoft Rewards points each

- Video length fixed at 5 seconds (no adjustable duration)
- Initial aspect ratio: vertical 9:16 (optimized for TikTok/Instagram)
- Horizontal 9:16 format coming soon
- Users can queue up to three simultaneous generations
Microsoft Rewards points can be earned through:
- Bing searches (5 points per PC search, max 150/day)
- Microsoft Store purchases
This integration strengthens the Microsoft-OpenAI partnership, following OpenAI's February announcement about bringing Sora to ChatGPT.
