Microsoft Build 2025 Preview: AI Innovations, Windows 11 Upgrades, and Developer Tools
Microsoft Build 2025 will showcase AI advancements, including Copilot updates, Windows 11 enhancements, and new developer tools.
Microsoft's annual developer conference, Build 2025, is scheduled to run from May 19 to May 22 at the Seattle Convention Center. The event will kick off with a keynote by CEO Satya Nadella and CTO Kevin Scott at 9:05 a.m. PT (9:35 pm IST). This year's focus will heavily emphasize artificial intelligence, particularly advancements in Copilot and Windows 11.

Key Expectations from Microsoft Build 2025
AI Agents in Windows 11
Microsoft is expected to unveil AI agents capable of automating tasks within Windows 11. One such agent, integrated into the Settings app, will handle system adjustments autonomously. Developers may also learn how to embed AI agents into their applications.
File Explorer and Start Menu Upgrades
Updates to File Explorer and the Start menu will streamline file management and app discovery. Users will be able to search for and download apps directly from the Start menu, bypassing the Microsoft Store.
Copilot Vision Expands to Desktop
Copilot Vision, currently available on mobile, is expected to debut on desktops. This feature allows the AI to interact with your screen, enhancing productivity. Windows Insiders already have early access, but general availability remains unclear.
Researcher Tool for Copilot
A new Researcher tool, powered by OpenAI's o3 reasoning model, will assist with data gathering from OneDrive and the web. However, it’s currently limited to Microsoft 365 subscribers.
Core Platform Updates
While AI dominates, Microsoft will also share updates on Azure, .NET, and GitHub, which remain critical to its ecosystem.
